The owner was actively trying to sell his business but was faced with a huge financial backlog and unexplained financial results. They required an independent party to come in and assess what needed to be done, assist with the backlog and help stage the business for sale. Responsibilities included:

• co-managed the due diligence process for the sale of the company
• met with the banks, bonding company, and key suppliers
• established billing criteria for projects and conducted review of all revenue streams for billing completeness
• assisted with collections and managing cash flow
• created policies and procedures and implemented proper internal controls
• created month end working papers for their annual Review Engagement
• reviewed IT structure and financial applications to allow for sharing of information and roles
• managed new employee workloads by outlining job descriptions
• established routines producing office manuals/key procedural documents for employees

Over saw the implementation of a new accounting system, including the financial reporting tools (budgets, working paper files, KPIs) and the related internal controls. On a monthly basis provided support to internal accounting team, prepared monthly financial reporting packages for the owner, and provided strategic insight for the business.

An extensive review of their operational and financial processes was done to document and establish ways to improve their overall business functions. The redesigned workflow we implemented was simple, cost effective, and has added greater transparency and uncomplicated routines in their business, allowing them greater opportunity to market repeat customers.

We were tasked with the creation and automation of their invoicing software and reporting suite in Excel. We streamlined the data input and reporting functions which could then be electronically imported into their accounting system.
